I love them.  And I have to tell myself not to be afraid to use them ...

Stunning!

Use them, because if one breaks, you'll have to go back for a replacement!

In Italy, they use glasses like this for water, and in fact these are supposed to be appropriate for any beverage (except prosecco that you are supposed to drink out of narrow ones like champagne glasses, or digestif, which you drink out of a liqueur glass.)

lovely. But as you say, take the pleasure you can now from using them.

yes - I have to use the zen philosophy "they are already broken" and enjoy them in this moment ;-)

Those are really pretty. We didn't dare bring back any of the glassware we really liked from Venice, and were too cheap to have it shipped. And there is so much ugly tat we didn't look too hard.

Enjoy your glasses - don't hide them away unused. If they break, you'll just have to go back for more. ;-)

The advantage of staying longer is being able to go further afield to find things. I got these from the factory on Murano (I should blog more fully about the experience...) There is a lot of ugly tat, you're right, especially in the main tourist areas.

Oh, they're gorgeous! I wonder what different effect you'll get with red, white, and rose. Experimentation is necessary.

They are gorgeous (as is the photo!). They are a lot simpler than some Venetian glass I've seen. We were given two liqueur glasses from Venice but don't use them much as we don't tend to drink many liqueurs...maybe we could have tiny glasses of wine :)

Yes, I had to scratch the surface quite a bit to find these - I should blog more about it... As I mentioned to gillo above, there is an awful lot of tat, and it can be hard, but rewarding, to find really lovely things.

They are very elegant -- and I love the way you've set up the photo to create coloured shadows.

So lovely! From my own experience with an inherited tea set I know I would hardly ever use them, though it makes me happy to do so. So, do use them!

They're exquisite. They are high summer, early autumn, and gentle days in winter.
