Bleah

I woke up at 4:00 am and couldn't get back to sleep. Consequently, I feel that the day is somewhat handicapped already. I have Much To Do that requires Brain and no Brain to do it with.

Also, I have this irritating, nagging, cough lingering from the swinishness of last week. One day I feel okay, the next I am tired and coughy. I can't help worrying that one day 20 years of smoking is going to catch up with me...

Oh. It's Monday. No wonder.

The flu holds on with claws. I'm still getting snotty and feverish if I don't go to bed at say, eight.

Hey, I also used to smoke for 20 years!
And that swine flu was terrible.
But the "quit smoking" material that I read said that ten years after you quit, your risk of cancer drops almost to the level of people who never smoked. Not that anyone is ever immune, but if you really truly quit, the positive health effects are very dramatic.

OK, if you have read something else that is much more depressing, you can go ahead and post it and burst my bubble, but I hope you haven't.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks! I hope and trust that you are right. My doctor told me that it was good I quit before I was 40 - he said that after that some damage might be permanent, but before that was like you said.

I just can't help thinking that having been exposed to a known carcinogen for so long can't be good... but we'll hope for the best!
