I have Conferred

I am back from Calgary, tired but satisfied after three days of discussing, learning, sharing ideas and generally raising educational hell. It was nice to be the sponsored guest rather than just a delegate, and it was certainly pleasant to be wined and dined by the publishers (my dinner alone cost almost as much as a week's groceries - no wonder textbooks are so expensive!). The hotel was plush, the conference facilities very up-to-date, Calgary showing the benefits of lots of oil money to spend. I think I will reflect on content elsewhere (I'm starting yet another blog over on Wordpress). For now, suffice it to say that I had a good time, but am quite glad to be home again, even if I have a vast pile of marking waiting for me.

  • RIP Ray Bradbury

I wanted to write something about Ray Bradbury

  • The Weakness in Me

Robinson's death has hit me hard. Also, the general feeling of doglessness. I haven't been without a dog, except for when on holiday, for eighteen…

  • Profound Gifts

My tribute to Robinson, blogged elsewhere.
