My Persephone Book

Allow me a literary squee. My friend KP gave me for my birthday my choice of any book from the Persephone books catalogue, and my book arrived in the post today: A London Child of the 1870s by Molly Hughes. I had a hard time choosing - narrowed it down to three, and then decided on this one. These books are so lovely! I'm sure oursin and all my other UK lj friends know all about them, but I take a great pleasure in these elegant little volumes with beautiful end papers and their own matching bookmark. There's some bitter-sweetness to this, as my mum would have loved not only the concept but the book itself, I'm sure. Oh well; I'll read it in her memory as well as for myself. Shall report on contents of same, later.
