the last visible dog

I disturbed a mouse in my compost bin today. There was the mouse, probably thinking it had achieved some kind of mousey nirvana, and there was I, lifting the lid, going "o-my-god-there's-a-rodent-and-it's-small-and-grey-at-least-it's-not-a-rat!!!!" and we both kind of went "eeeek" and that was that.

Because I don't have blinds on my front windows at the moment, I couldn't pretend I wasn't home, so I did the whole Halloween'y thing. I even carved a pumpkin. However, children were being shipped in to my neighbourhood, in mini-vans, because it had obviously had been identified as a Safe Haven For Kids and Fair Game for Collecting Loot. So I ran out of candy and had to turn out my lights and hide in the back of my house.

I dreamt last night that I'd been offered a job in Australia, and that was a Good Thing. I'm wondering what that meant...

  • RIP Ray Bradbury

I wanted to write something about Ray Bradbury

  • The Weakness in Me

Robinson's death has hit me hard. Also, the general feeling of doglessness. I haven't been without a dog, except for when on holiday, for eighteen…

  • Profound Gifts

My tribute to Robinson, blogged elsewhere.
